COVID-19 and the passage of time

A new study into the effects of social and physical distancing measures put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic shows how these have significantly impacted upon people's perception of how quickly time passed compared to their pre-lockdown perceptions. This has created a ‘distorted pattern’ of time.

The main finding was that people who are less satisfied with their current levels of social interaction are more likely to experience slower passage of time over the course of a day. Furthermore, those who were experiencing more stress also indicated they were experiencing time more slowly.
