Contaminants like dirt, rust, or grease on the welded surfaces can compromise the joint's strength. Thorough cleanings and proper surface preparation, such as grinding or bevelling, are necessary to ensure optimal bonding. The choice of filler material should match the base materials in composition, mechanical properties, and compatibility, ensuring a strong and reliable weld.
