Tap
water in hospitals can be an area of microbiological contamination, if not
correctly controlled. Public Health England has issued guidance for testing.
The
guidance is titled “Hospital tap water scheme: intended results for
distribution HTW4.” The document states: “This external quality assessment
(EQA) scheme is particularly suited to laboratories in the water testing and
clinical microbiology sectors that examine hospital tap waters.” The
examination covered refers to Pseudomonas
aeruginosa.
